About Me

I have no greater joy than to hear
that my children walk in truth
                                         3 John 4

Hello, welcome and thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about me.  I was born in W. Va. and moved to Dayton in 1964.  I have 2 children and 7 grandchildren who complete my life.  I'm very blessed and have wonderful friends who are always there for me.  I am a Christian and attend Fairhaven Church. I enjoy life and continue to keep active since retirement in 2011 Volunteering,  Square dancing, and writing poetry.

I'm very thankful to all the service men and women who have risked or given their lives so  that I can enjoy the freedom that this country has provided for me throughout my life.  I had one brother who was a very proud Marine but he is now serving in a much greater army with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

My Mother and Father have passed on, but a picture of my Mother and Father is located on my home page.  The poem "This Mother of Mine" was written for her as she was a wonderful Mother and an inspiration to me.

I'm Not Here by Accident
By Shirley R. Fluharty

I'm not here by accident
And neither are you
I believe God has sent me
With a message so true
To tell you you're loved
In a most special way
By our Lord and our Father
Yes, He loves you today

And this message I bring
Is of eternal life
A promise God gave us
Thru Jesus' great strife
So if you are hurting
Or in much dismay
At the end of this poem
Is a prayer you can say

So as you read thru these pages
Read the end of this one
Ask Jesus be your Saviour
God's only begotten Son.

Thankful Am I
By Shirley R. Fluharty

I know so little
But I'm willing to learn
Those who are hursing
May they be my concern

I have so much
Yet I always have need
Shoe me to reach out
The hungry to fee

I kow the promise of eternity
Use me to share that others may see
The truth and the life
that knowing you brings
And thankful am I
For You and know things

be thankful unto Him, and bless His name
Psalm 100:4

The Author
by Shirley R. Fluharty

If you know my Jesus
Then You've met the Man
The Author of poems
Penned by my hand

A mere vessel am I
Tho empty I'm not
For my Jesus has filled me
Yes, each little spot

He whispers these words
From my heart to my pen
And just as I thank Him
He starts over again
He speaks soft and gentle
With great power and might
And He tells a love story
Fills each heart with delight

If you know my Jesus
Then you've met the Man
The Author of poems
Penned by my hand.

And I was daily His delight
Proverbs 8:30
